Kashmir taxi service
Kashmir, beyond beautiful.
Fixed cabs for lakeside starts, mountain roads and day trips across Kashmir.
A new business, so there is no long list of numbers to quote. What there is instead: a named driver, his own vehicles, and a price that does not move.
Rashid lives in Sonmarg. Your booking is driven by him or by a driver on his own payroll — it is not sold on to whoever happens to be free.
Every vehicle in the fleet is his, photographed with its registration plate on the fleet page. You can see what will turn up before it does.
Rates are published per vehicle and agreed on WhatsApp before you travel. Nothing is added at the end of the trip — no surcharge, no tip expectation, no revised number at the destination.
Any hour, any day, including the 4 a.m. airport run. There is one number and one person behind it, so nothing gets lost in a queue.
Every fare below covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and the waiting time at your stops. Nothing is charged per head.

WhatsAppThree steps, no account, no deposit taken online, no payment gateway between you and a driver you can simply call.
WhatsApp is fastest. Tell him where you are going, how many of you there are, and how many bags. He replies himself, usually within the hour.
He confirms which vehicle suits your group and the fixed price for it. It stays in the chat, so there is nothing to argue about later.
Hotel, houseboat ghat or the airport arrivals hall. You pay the agreed amount at the end of the journey — nothing before it.

I live in Sonmarg, at the top of the Sindh valley, and I know the road down to Srinagar in every season — when Zojila opens, where the tarmac goes bad after rain, and how early you have to leave Srinagar to beat the queue at the Gulmarg gondola.
The six vehicles are mine. I do not sell your booking on to somebody else, and I do not change the price once you are in the car. If I cannot do a trip properly on the date you want, I will tell you that instead of taking the money.

Per vehicle, not per person, and the same whether one of you travels or six. The figure you agree on WhatsApp is the figure you pay at the end of the journey.
Rashid is finalising the rate card. Message him for a firm quote on your date — it will be fixed in writing before you travel.

All figures are per vehicle. A dash means that vehicle does not run that route.
For May and June, and again in late December, a week or two ahead is sensible — the fleet is six vehicles, and in peak season they are usually all out. Outside those months a day or two is normally enough, and same-day runs to Sonmarg or Gulmarg are often possible. Message on WhatsApp with your dates and you will get a straight yes or no.
Agree this with Rashid on WhatsApp when you book, and you will have it in writing in the chat before you travel. The deposit and cancellation terms are being finalised and will be published on this page in full — until they are, nothing is taken on trust in either direction.
Per vehicle. The fare covers the vehicle, the driver, fuel, tolls and permits, whether one of you travels or six. It does not change at the end of the trip, and there is no per-head charge on top.
Zojila, the pass between Sonmarg and Drass on the way to Leh, closes with the winter snow and usually reopens somewhere between April and May, with the exact date set by the clearing work each year. It can also shut for a day or two after heavy snow or a landslide in season. Rashid lives in Sonmarg and checks the position on the ground before confirming any Leh booking, and if the road shuts after you have booked you are told immediately rather than driven to the barrier.
Up to them, yes; around them, no. The inner sightseeing circuit at Gulmarg, and the last legs to Aru, Betaab and Chandanwari at Pahalgam, are reserved for locally registered union vehicles — a rule that applies to every operator in the valley, not only to Snowline. Your vehicle drives you there, waits for as long as you are out, and brings you back. The union leg is paid at the stand on the day, and Rashid tells you this before you book rather than when you arrive.
As far as Gagangir, yes. From roughly December to March the last stretch into Sonmarg, and any sightseeing once you are there, needs a chained union cab — again the local stand's rule, and again paid directly to them rather than to Snowline. Rashid lives in Sonmarg, so he knows the current position and the current figure, and he tells you both before you set out.
It depends on the vehicle, and the capacity of each one is listed on the fleet page. Tell Rashid your bag count when you book — with a full car and six large cases the honest answer is sometimes a larger vehicle rather than a squeeze, and it is better to know that before the airport than at it.
Ask when you book. Child seats are not standard in taxis here, so tell Rashid the age of the child in advance and he will tell you plainly what he can arrange for that date rather than promise it now.
Airport transfers and runs within Srinagar are routine at any hour. The mountain roads — Zojila in particular — are a different question, and whether a night departure is sensible depends on the road and the weather that week. Ask before you plan around it.
Rashid, or one of the drivers who works with him on his own vehicles. The work is not sold on to an aggregator or subcontracted to a car you have never seen. If a different driver is taking you, you get their name and number before the day.
Send your dates, your route and how many of you there are. You will get a straight answer and a fixed price, from the person who will be driving.
